China will focus on the development of more sustainable sources of energy like wind, nuclear, and solar power, Sun Qin, the deputy director of the country's National Energy Administration, said Sunday at the First Asian Energy Forum in Guangzhou.

To achieve that goal, the administration will issue a set of new energy guidelines by the end of the year, Sun announced.

China currently relies on coal for the vast majority of its energy, but the Chinese government has previously declared that the country will generate at least 15 percent of its energy from wind, solar and other renewable energy sources by 2020.
