Rapid growth was registered in foreign trade. The total value of imports and exports in 2003 reached US$851.2 billion, up 37.1 per cent over the previous year. The value of exports was US$438.4 billion, up 34.6 per cent, and the value of imports was US$412.8 billion, up 39.9 per cent.
